This page lists the cookies a visit can create. There is no sign-up and no comment box, so the list is short: analytics, advertising, and whatever a game sets after you choose to load it.
Before you press play
A visit to a guide page, a catalog page or a game page contacts this site, Google Analytics, Google AdSense, and, except on the legal pages, Adsterra. It does not contact any game host. The game frame is created only after you press the play button on a game page, so an embedded game cannot set anything before that click.
Analytics
Google Analytics 4 counts visits, page views, play clicks, catalog searches, scroll depth and
how long the tab stays visible. It sets _ga and
_ga_* cookies in the azerothsurvivors.io domain, with a lifetime of up
to two years, and it receives your IP address. The data is aggregated; it is not used to
identify you.
Advertising
Google AdSense can set cookies including IDE, test_cookie,
__gads and __gpi to limit repetition and measure ads. Google may use
them to personalise ads. You can turn personalisation off at
adssettings.google.com.
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, consent is collected through Google's consent message
before personalised ads run. Adsterra, loaded from bauval.org and
abscloud.org, can set its own advertising cookies for the bottom bar, the
click-opened window, the native block on the guide pages, and the banner on the download page.
Embedded games
When you press play on a game page, the game's author serves the frame. That host can set its own cookies or use local storage for saves, settings or analytics. Those cookies belong to the game's author and are covered by that site's policy, not this one. Closing the page ends the session; clearing site data for the game's domain removes what it stored.
Managing cookies
- Block or delete cookies in your browser's site settings.
- Use a private window to start a session without existing cookies.
- Opt out of personalised ads at adssettings.google.com.
- Install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on to stop measurement.
Blocking analytics or ads does not break the guides or the catalog. Blocking the game host does break that game's frame, and the page falls back to a link on the official site.
